Projekt: Kahlekuningatar / The Chain Queen
Saana Leppänen is a contemporary circus artist and artistic director, specialising in aerial acrobatics. Her practice is holistic and layered, combining physical endurance with emotional depth. Her work is abstract in form, creating space for interpretation and reflection. She creates bold, sensitive, and thought-provoking pieces that challenge societal norms. At the moment she is exploring themes of identity and power. Her artistic voice is shaped by a feminist perspective and a desire to expand the expressive possibilities of contemporary circus.
Saana Leppänen’s solo performance The Chain Queen explores gender inequality through contemporary circus. Using metal chains as a visual and physical language, the show dives into the intersections of power, gender, and the body.
