Tyst Teater  has developed its vision to become a centre and meeting place for Deaf stage arts. Our vision is

CELEBRATION of Deaf stage arts as exciting, open and diverse.
EDUCATION, supporting, developing and promoting deaf theatre education in stage arts
IDENTITY, promoting the right to Swedish sign language and a deaf culture – sharing knowledge with hearing organisations
INSPIRATION supporting, developing and promoting deaf education in theatre arts.

The centre and meeting place will work in four practical ways:

Theatre from Shakespeare and new writing, youth work and international collaborations, to create the most inspiring, and exciting productions and continuing to push the boundaries of Swedish Sign Langauge on stage. Our audiences include children, youth and adults, for national touring in Sweden and international festivals. We also give Theatre workshops and welcome international collaborations and guest performances.

Youth and Education: With our own Young Tyst Teater, we aim to support young deaf artists to ensure education is available, linking to our main company through workshops, youth seminars and projects, and helping to create new networks for information and inspiration. Tyst Teater also offer practical training in three areas Theatre, Technical and Interpretation.

International stage: Promoting international dialogue with our fellow deaf and hearing arts institutions, exchanging knowledge and creative ideas, and welcoming international collaborations and guest performances to promote, celebrate and inspire deaf and hearing audiences here in Sweden.

Media and Communication technology: working alongside science and technology organisations (e.g.  Technical museum, KTH, SDR) to research and develope the latest media and film techniques that affect and can inspire better and new productions on stage, such as film, animation, cyberspace audiences, internet performances and arts sites. Secondly to offer consistent support for the continued internal and exteternal communications systems at Riksteatern from home page with sign langauge interpretation to webcam, text machines or use of virtual and live sign lanagauge interpreters.
