Så inleder Matthew Zajac sin oförglömliga föreställning där han grundligt samlar ihop sin fars lapptäcke av sanningar och utelämnanden, för att sedan metodiskt reda ut vad som egentligen hände. Den spända odyssén sträcker sig över kontinenter, decennier och över ännu större områden i hjärtat som fortfarande är märkta av krig.
Ackompanjerad av en världsmusiker på fiol ger Matthew Zajac liv åt en pojke som växer upp på en gård i Galicien (östra Polen, nu västra Ukraina) och slutar som skräddare i Inverness. Vägen dit är kantad av krig, grymhet och utanförskap. I rollerna som krigsfånge, soldat och invandrare är han tvungen att anpassa sig för att inte gå under. Han syr kläder. Mängder av kläder – och förklädnader. För att överleva.
Direkt från en världsturné som avslutades med fyra veckors gästspel i London kommer The Tailor of Inverness till Umeå. Dogstars mest framgångsrika föreställning har sedan premiären dragit fulla hus och hyllats av både publik och kritiker. Berättelsen är lika personlig och intim som den är politiskt och historiskt angelägen, med lysande skådespeleri som berör på djupet.

Thus begins Matthew Zajac's unforgettable performance in which he thoroughly assembles his father's patchwork of truths and omissions, then methodically unravels what really happened. The tense odyssey spans continents, decades and across even larger areas of the heartland still scarred by war.
Accompanied by a world musician on the violin, Matthew Zajac brings to life a boy who grows up on a farm in Galicia (eastern Poland, now western Ukraine) and ends up as a tailor in Inverness. The road there is lined with war, cruelty, and exclusion. In the roles of prisoner of war, soldier, and immigrant, he must adapt in order not to perish. He sews clothes. Lots of clothes and disguises. To survive.
Straight from a world tour that ended with four weeks of guest performances in London, The Tailor of Inverness comes to Umeå. Since its premiere, Dogstar's most successful performance has drawn full houses and been praised by both audiences and critics. The story is as personal and intimate as it is politically and historically charged, with brilliant acting that touches deeply.
