About the event
A global meeting place for sign language arts
Sign Language Arts 2027 brings together artists, researchers, professionals, and audiences from around the world to celebrate and explore artistic expression in sign language.
Taking place at Riksteatern in November 2027, the event highlights sign language as a powerful artistic medium — rich in visuality, rhythm, movement, storytelling, and cultural meaning. Across several days, Sign Language Arts 2027 will offer space for research, artistic exchange, live performance, creative development, and international dialogue.
The programme is divided into three main parts: the Conference (19-20 november), focusing on research, artistic practice, and critical perspectives; SLA Show (20 november), an evening of performances and artistic encounters; and the Masterclass (21-24 november), an intensive space for selected artists to deepen their practice and exchange experiences.
