Mål

Att ge cirkusproducenterna tid för fokuserat arbete, undersökande, reflektion och utveckling av det egna konstnärliga uttrycket.

Att stötta utvecklingen av en cirkusproduktion och residenset ska ha för avsikt att leda fram till en färdig föreställning.

Syfte med Cirkusresidens x 3

Inom projektet Cirkusresidens x 3 samarbetar främjare av scenkonst från tre regioner kring att arrangera cirkusresidens. Projektet ger möjlighet för samma cirkuskompani/cirkusartist att arbeta med sin kommande produktion på tre olika platser i Sverige.

Syftet är att stärka utvecklingen av samtida cirkus genom att stötta skapandet av framtida cirkusproduktioner och skapa nya möjligheter för fria kulturutövare att utveckla sitt konstnärskap på nya platser och i nya sammanhang. Samt stötta och utveckla residensplatser för cirkus i Sverige.

I residenset ingår:

• Residens under två veckor på tre olika platser under maj, juni och augusti 2026.
• Produktionsstöd om totalt 300 000 kr.
• Boende och resestöd för upp till fem personer på respektive residensplats.
• Värdskap av artisterna på respektive residensplats.
• Tillfällen till publikmöten.

Residensperioder och platser

Skåne

• Plats: Karavan, Malmö.
• Datum: Valbar sammanhållen period på 14 dagar mellan 11 – 31 maj, 2026.
• Lokalinfo: 10x10 m och 9 m i takhöjd. Scenlokalen har riggpunkter i travers i taket samt i väggar och golv. I scenlokalen finns ljus och ljudrigg för scenproduktioner.
• Boende: Riksteatern Skåne står för boende för max 5 personer under 2 veckor i delad lägenhet/hus.

Västra Götaland

• Plats: Stora Teatern, Göteborg
• Datum: 8–14 juni, 2026: Fri tillgång till studion Stora Baletten och 15–18 juni, 2026: Tillgång till Stora scenen dagtid.
• Lokalinfo: Stora Baletten: 13,7 m x 9,1 m, takhöjd 3,6 m till balkar) med enklare ljudanläggning. Stora Scenen: med ljus- och ljudtekniker.
  Boende: Två enklare lägenheter på Stora Teatern med plats för upp till tre personer i varje.

Östergötland

• Plats: Kulturhuset Agora, LinköpingDatum: Valbar sammanhållen period på 14 dagar mellan 24 augusti–13 september.
• Lokalinfo: Hämta teknisk rider här
  Boende: Två enkla lägenheter i Agora Kulturhus, båda med dubbelsäng. Extra boende erbjuds för upp till totalt fem personer.

Ansökningskrav

• Residenstagarna ska vara professionella och verksamma inom cirkusområdet i Sverige.
• Residenstagarna ska inneha F-skattsedel.
• Residenstagarna ska kunna vara på plats under hela residensperioden.
• Residenstagarna ska kunna presentera en produktionsidé och en budget för hela projektet.
• Residenstagarna förbinder sig att erbjuda något publikt på respektive residensplats (till exempel workshop, work in progress-visning, samtal eller liknande).

Beslut meddelas samtliga sökanden under december 2025.

Goals

To give circus producers time for focused work, exploration, reflection, and development of their own artistic expression.

To support the development of a circus production, with the residency intended to lead to a finished performance.

Purpose of Circus Residency x 3

Within the project, promoters of performing arts from three regions are collaborating to arrange circus residencies. The project gives the same circus company/circus artist the opportunity to work on their upcoming production in three different locations in Sweden.

The purpose is to strengthen the development of contemporary circus by supporting the creation of future circus productions and creating new opportunities for independent cultural professionals to develop their artistry in new locations and contexts. It also aims to support and develop residency locations for circus in Sweden.

The residency includes

• Residency for two weeks at three different locations in May, June, and August 2026.
• Production support totaling SEK 300,000.
• Accommodation and travel support for up to five people at each residency location.
• Hosting of the artists at each residency location.
• Opportunities for audience meetings.

Skåne

• Location: Karavan, Malmö.
• Dates: Selectable consecutive period of 14 days between May 11 and May 31, 2026.
• Venue info: 10x10 m with a ceiling height of 9 m. The stage area has rigging points in the ceiling, walls, and floor. The stage area is equipped with lighting and sound rigging for stage productions.
• Accommodation: Riksteatern Skåne will provide accommodation for up to five people for two weeks in a shared apartment/house.

Västra Götaland

• Location: Stora Teatern, Gothenburg
• Dates: June 8–14, 2026: Free access to the Stora Baletten studio and June 15–18, 2026: Access to the Stora Scenen stage during the day.
• Venue info: Stora Baletten: 13.7 m x 9.1 m, ceiling height 3.6 m to beams) with basic sound system. Stora Scenen: with lighting and sound technicians.
• Accommodation: Two simple apartments at Stora Teatern with room for up to three people in each.

Östergötland

• Location: Kulturhuset Agora, Linköping
• Date: Selectable consecutive period of 14 days between August 24 and September 13.
• Venue information: Download technical rider here
• Accommodation: Two basic apartments in Agora Kulturhus, both with double beds. Additional accommodation is available for up to 5 people in total.

Application requirements

• Residency participants must be professionals working in the circus field in Sweden.
• Residency participants must have an F-tax certificate.
• Residency participants must be able to be on site for the entire residency period.
• Residency participants must be able to present a production idea and a budget for the entire project.
• Residency participants undertake to offer something to the public at their respective residency locations (e.g., workshops, work-in-progress showings, talks, or similar).
