Lily&Janick är ett samtida cirkuskompani från Tyskland med bas i Berlin, som arbetar i gränslandet mellan samtida cirkus och visuell konst. Deras vision är att skapa föreställningar som erbjuder publiken en unik upplevelse. I sin debutföreställning KALEIDING undersökte de hur åskådarens uppmärksamhet kan dras nedåt, när människors blickar vanligtvis riktas uppåt när de tittar på cirkus. Med hjälp av en stor spegel på golvet skapar två artister, men fyra samverkande kroppar, omöjliga former som känns som en betraktelse genom ett kalejdoskop.

Under sitt residens på Riksteatern inleder Lily och Janick arbetet med sin nya produktion Make Sense. I denna föreställning vill de undersöka hur rörelse kan översättas till andra sinnen. Med hjälp av synesteterna Sasha, Cléa och Nastasja översätter och avkodar de sin partners akrobatiska repertoar till färger, siffror, former, dofter och ljud.

Tillsammans med den visuella konstnären Cerian Mason utforskar de relationen mellan reaktiv teknik, projektion och samtida cirkus.

Produktionsresidenset är ett internationellt samarbete mellan Riksteatern, Konstnärsnämnden, BUZZ (German Federal Association for Contemporary Circus), Goethe-Institutet i Sverige och CCCC (Creation Center Contemporary Circus in Cologne). Under 2026 får cirkusartister baserade i Sverige möjligheten, genom utlysning, till ett två veckor långt residens i Köln, Tyskland.

Make Sense stöds av PERPLX (BE), CirkLabo (BE), Dynamo Workspace (DK), Motion Chapel (IE), BUZZ (DE), Goethe-Institutet Sverige (SE) och Riksteatern (SE). Planerad premiär 2026/27.

International production residency circus

Lily&Janick is a Berlin based contemporary circus company from Germany, that works on the border between contemporary circus and visual arts. Their mission is to create performances that offer a unique watching experience to the audience.

In their debut performance KALEIDING they investigated how the attention of the viewer can be drawn downwards, when people´s gaze usually goes upwards, while watching circus. With the help of a big mirror on the floor, two performers but four collaborating bodies create impossible shapes that feel like a long glance through a kaleidoscope.

During their residency at Riksteatern Lily and Janick are kicking off the research for their new production Make Sense. In this performance they want to investigate how movement can be translated into other senses. With the help of synesthetes Sasha, Cléa and Nastasja they translate and decode their partner acrobatic repertoire into colours, numbers, shapes, smells and sounds.

Accompanied by visual artist Cerian Mason they explore the relationship between reactive technology, projection and contemporary circus.

The residency is an international collaboration between Riksteatern, The Swedish Arts Grants Committee, BUZZ (German Federal Association for Contemporary Circus), The Goethe Institut in Sweden, and CCCC (Creation Center Contemporary Circus in Cologne). In 2026, circus artists based in Sweden will have the opportunity, through a call for applications, to participate in a two-week residency in Cologne, Germany.
